Kwara Reopens Schools After Two-Month Closure as Security Improves
The Kwara State Government has approved the reopening of all schools across the state following improvements in the security situation after months of closure caused by rising insecurity.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, announced on Sunday that academic activities will resume in all public and private schools from Monday, February 2, 2026 stating that the school authorities had already been formally notified of the decision, which was taken amid sustained anti-banditry operations by security agencies across different parts of the state noting that security forces are still actively consolidating gains recorded in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities that previously posed threats to lives, property and educational institutions.
