Kwara Relocates Medical Outreach Over Insecurity in Ifelodun

The Kwara State Government has announced the relocation of the 2025 Medical and Surgical Outreach Programme for Ifelodun Local Government Area from the Specialist Hospital, Oke-Ode, to the Cottage Hospital in Omupo.
The decision followed a bandit attack on Oke-Ode on Sunday, which left several people dead and more than ten others abducted.
According to the Ministry of Health, the outreach is part of ongoing efforts to expand access to quality healthcare across the state. It will now take place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the new venue in Omupo.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, explained that the relocation was based on a security review aimed at guaranteeing safety, wider accessibility, and improved service delivery to communities in the local government area.
The programme is expected to feature free medical consultations, surgical procedures, and other essential healthcare services designed to improve the well-being of residents.
The government also urged residents of Ifelodun and neighbouring communities to take advantage of the initiative, reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives while prioritising public health.
