The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. across the state.
According to a statement from the Office of the Commissioner for Environment, Nafisat Musa Buge, there will be restrictions on vehicular and human movement during the exercise to allow residents to participate fully in the cleanup.
The government said waste management trucks will be deployed to collect refuse for disposal at approved dump sites, while security personnel and environmental officers will monitor compliance and prosecute offenders through mobile courts.
Residents have been warned against dumping refuse on roads, pedestrian walkways, drainages, canals and other unauthorised locations, noting that such actions violate the state’s environmental laws.
The government also encouraged residents to use the sanitation period to clear overgrown grasses, clean drainages and remove other environmental hazards around their homes and business premises to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
