Kwara Govt Distributes Medical Equipment, Supplies to Health Facilities Across State

The Kwara State Government has distributed hospital equipment, laboratory tools, essential drugs, and other medical supplies to health facilities across the state, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare for all residents.
The intervention, carried out under the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity (Project HOPE) initiative, was handed over to the State Hospital Management Board and Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) as part of ongoing efforts by the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration to revitalize the state’s healthcare system.
Speaking during the official handover ceremony, the Commissioner for Finance and Chairman of the Project HOPE Steering Committee, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, said the initiative underscores the government’s resolve to build a functional, inclusive, and people-centred health system.
“Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision is clear — to make healthcare accessible, affordable, and reliable for every Kwara resident, regardless of location. This gesture is another step towards achieving that vision,” Dr. Nuru stated.
She explained that Project HOPE is one of the government’s flagship programmes aimed at closing critical gaps in healthcare infrastructure, manpower, and service delivery, particularly at the grassroots level. She also urged beneficiary facilities to ensure the proper use and maintenance of the items.
In her remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Prof. Nusirat Elelu, commended the Governor for his consistent investment in the health sector, describing the gesture as a reflection of the administration’s unwavering commitment to a sustainable and efficient healthcare system.
“We are witnessing the fruits of a deliberate strategy to strengthen our PHC system through infrastructure upgrades, supply of essential commodities, and capacity building for health workers. This is how we build a healthier Kwara,” Prof. Elelu said.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, who received the items on behalf of the beneficiary facilities, expressed appreciation to the state government, assuring that the equipment and supplies would be judiciously utilized to enhance patient care and improve service delivery across hospitals.
The distributed items include outreach tricycles, motorcycles, adult and child weighing scales, hospital beds and mattresses, delivery couches, hematology analyzers, laboratory equipment, sphygmomanometers, laptops, dressing trolleys, essential drugs, and other medical consumables.
