Kwara Governor Tours Ifelodun Communities, Reassures Residents on Security and Economic Support

Ilorin, Kwara State – Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over the weekend visited communities in Ifelodun Local Government Area, including Babanla and Oke-Ode, to reassure residents of the government’s commitment to public safety and economic development.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor commended community members and security personnel for their resilience amid recent security challenges. He extended condolences to families affected by recent attacks and pledged continued efforts to prevent further incidents, including social support through the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP).
In Babanla, Governor AbdulRazaq was received by the Oba of Babanla, Oba Aliyu Adegboyega Yusuf Arojojoye II, and his chiefs. Security officials accompanying the governor included Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo, and Senior Special Assistant on Security Muyideen Aliyu. Chairman of Ifelodun, Hon. Femi Yusuf, also joined the visit.
Addressing the residents, the governor said the recent unrest was an unusual occurrence caused by displaced criminal actors, but assured that security forces were actively restoring peace. “We will make sure everything is in order and you live in peace,” he said.
Oba Aliyu praised the governor and the federal government for their efforts in restoring normalcy, noting that the attack had resulted in the loss of nine motorcycles, food items, and phones. He urged the government to utilize the community’s vast lands for economic purposes, saying it would create jobs and deny criminals hiding places.
