Kwara government Unveils Converted Electric Vehicles in Landmark Innovation Drive

The Kwara State Government, in partnership with Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has unveiled converted electric vehicles as part of efforts to promote sustainable transportation and technological innovation. The landmark project, executed by KWASU and supported by the state’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology, involved transforming scrapped petrol-powered cars into electric models to demonstrate the potential of eco-friendly mobility.
At the handing-over ceremony, Commissioner Damilola Yusuf Adelodun hailed the initiative as a milestone in reducing carbon emissions and praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his visionary leadership. Permanent Secretary Mary Kemi Adeoshun also commended the university for driving innovation in renewable energy, while the Chairman of KWASU Holdings Committee, Prof. Kenneth Adeyemi, speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, described the project as evidence of Kwara’s capacity for sustainable development through strategic partnerships. The initiative, which will be followed by training sessions for relevant staff, is expected to enhance research, raise environmental awareness, and inspire further adoption of clean energy solutions in the state. Dignitaries at the event included senior government officials, university representatives, and members of the Centre for Sustainable Energy.
