Kwara Government Opens Bids for 2022, 2023 School Projects
Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KwSUBEB) initiated the process of awarding contracts for the implementation of school projects under the 2022 and 2023 SUBEB/UBEC programs.
The bidding process attracted 315 applicants vying for various contracts aimed at enhancing the infrastructure and facilities in public basic schools across the state.
The projects, spanning a two-year period, encompass six categories aimed at improving school infrastructure. These include the construction of classrooms with offices, installation of VIP toilet blocks, remodeling and renovation of classrooms, provision of furniture for pupils and teachers, and the supply of water and sanitation facilities.
During a brief ceremony held in Ilorin, Honorable Salihu Muhammed Baba, Chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on Education, commended the commitment of the state government, led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to invest significantly in education infrastructure.
He urged prospective contractors to prioritize quality delivery and community engagement throughout the project implementation process.
Prof. Sheu Raheem Adaramaja, Chairman of SUBEB, highlighted the government’s consistent payment of counterpart funds, which he emphasized as crucial for accessing capital to enhance the education sector.
He assured the bidders that the selection process would be merit-based and free from political interference. The bidding process, in accordance with procurement laws and regulations, signifies a competitive yet transparent approach to project allocation.
Prof. Adaramaja expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his administration’s continuous commitment to paying counterpart funds, which has enabled the state to access developmental resources effectively.
Representing the bidders, Alhaji Suleiman Oba Wakasi conveyed their satisfaction with the transparency of the bidding process and pledged to uphold quality standards when awarded contracts. He also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s leadership and dedication to the development of the education sector.
