Kwara Government Donates Medical Equipment to State University Clinic

February 23, 2026

The Kwara State Government has donated hospital and medical equipment to the clinic at the State University, Osi Campus, in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery within the institution.

Presenting the items, the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, said the gesture reflects the administration’s sustained commitment to providing accessible and quality healthcare services across the state. She noted that the government remains focused on improving primary healthcare infrastructure and investing in human resources to build a healthier population.

Elelu commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what she described as visionary leadership and deliberate reforms in the health sector, adding that the state’s interventions have begun to yield measurable results. She cited Kwara’s recognition in national health indices, including consecutive wins in the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge and top ranking in health preparedness in the North Central zone. She also highlighted the state’s low maternal and child mortality rates as evidence of progress.

According to her, the achievements stem from intentional policies, continuous training and retraining of health workers, improved supervision, and sustained recruitment to enhance service delivery. She assured residents that the agency would continue to coordinate and supervise primary healthcare services in line with national standards and global best practices.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the university, the Head of the Osi Campus and Dean of Environmental Sciences, Professor Binta Suleiman, expressed appreciation to the state government for approving and delivering the items promptly. She described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that it demonstrates concern for the wellbeing of students and staff.

Suleiman pledged the university’s continued collaboration with the state government and KWSPHCDA to advance healthcare services within the campus and surrounding communities.

Items donated include hospital beds with mattresses, centrifuge machines, waiting area chairs, laboratory test tubes, sphygmomanometers, clinical uniforms, cotton wool, medical footwear, bedsheets, pillows, and other essential medical supplies.
