Kwara Government Approves Free Common Entrance Examination for Pupils
The Kwara State Government has approved the full sponsorship of the 2026 Common Entrance Placement Examination for pupils seeking admission into Junior Secondary Schools across the state. The examination will hold on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in accredited centres across the 16 local government areas, with candidates expected to begin the exercise by 8:00 a.m.
Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, said the state government will bear the full cost of the examination, making it free for all registered pupils. He said the approval reflects the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality basic education and removing financial barriers to school enrolment.
The commissioner warned headteachers, principals and examination officials against collecting unauthorised fees from pupils or parents, stating that offenders would face disciplinary action. He also cautioned candidates and school authorities against examination malpractice, stressing that the placement exercise would be conducted on merit.
The ministry urged parents and guardians to ensure eligible pupils are registered and adequately prepared ahead of the examination.
