Kwara Electoral Commission Extends Nomination Period for LG Polls Due to Political Party Appeals
The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) has extended the period for obtaining and returning Nomination forms KWSIEC 01 and KWSIEC 02 for Chairmanship and Councilorship Elections.
Originally scheduled from July 1st to July 5th, 2024, the new dates are now Monday, July 8th to Friday, July 12th, 2024. This decision follows appeals from various political parties, which necessitated the extension due to ongoing political primaries.
KWASIEC Chairman, Muhammed Baba Okanla, announced the extension in a public notice, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to ensuring a fair electoral process.
Chairman Okanla also indicated that any further adjustments to the election timetable would be communicated promptly to the public as required.
The extension provides additional time for political parties and candidates to complete necessary paperwork and preparations ahead of the local government elections in Kwara State
