Kwara Education Trust Fund Awards First Scholarships to 12 Pupils

The Kwara State Education Trust Fund (Kwara-ETF) has awarded its first set of scholarships to 12 outstanding pupils from public schools, covering the full cost of their secondary education. The beneficiaries were selected after a series of rigorous screening stages that began with 640 pupils, narrowed to 180, then 36, before the final 12 were chosen based on merit and admission into Unity Schools.
Established in 2021, the Fund has continued to attract support from philanthropists and community stakeholders, with the state government also pledging additional contributions. Officials of the scheme said the initiative reflects a long-term vision to build the future of Kwara through sustainable investments in education, ensuring that the selected pupils, drawn from humble backgrounds, are tracked and supported to university level. Parents of the beneficiaries commended the initiative, describing it as a significant relief and a mass-oriented programme.
