Kwara Announces September 15 School Resumption for 2025/2026 Session

The Kwara State Government has fixed September 15, 2025, as the official resumption date for the 2025/2026 academic session for all basic, junior, and secondary schools across the state.
The announcement was made in Ilorin by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, who said necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
The decision followed resolutions reached at a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the ministry to review readiness for the new session.
The commissioner highlighted the state government’s continued investment in education under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, which he said had improved learning outcomes and enhanced the welfare of teachers and students.
He noted that a review of the previous academic year showed areas for improvement and pledged that the administration would sustain efforts to provide uninterrupted learning across Kwara.
Olohungbebe also revealed that recent examination results reflected significant progress in student performance, adding that the government is finalising a comprehensive policy framework to further strengthen the education sector. Details of the policy are expected to be released after ongoing consultations with stakeholders.
Parents, school heads, administrators, and learners were urged to support government initiatives designed to deliver quality and inclusive education, with emphasis on making learning more attractive and accessible through the adoption of technology.
