Kebbi Declares Monday Public Holiday to Mark New Islamic Year
The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has announced Monday, July 8, as a public holiday to commemorate the beginning of the new Islamic year, 1st Muharram 1446AH.
The State Commissioner for Establishment, Auwal Dogondaji, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, on Friday.
Dogondaji clarified that the first day of Muharram falls on July 7, and in recognition of its significance in the Islamic calendar, the state government has decided to observe the public holiday on July 8.
He conveyed the governor’s felicitations to the Muslim Ummah worldwide on the occasion of the new Islamic year, urging them to continue praying fervently for the peace, security, and prosperity of Kebbi State and the entire nation.
“I extend the governor’s congratulations to the entire Muslim Ummah across the globe,” the commissioner stated.
