Kano’s New Police Chief Denies Royal Family Links, Vows to Serve All
Salman Garba, the newly appointed Kano State Police Commissioner, has refuted claims of being a blood relative of deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, emphasizing his commitment to serve all residents regardless of their background.
In his inaugural press briefing at the command headquarters in Bompai, Kano, held on Wednesday, Commissioner Garba underscored the importance of combating crime, maintaining law and order, and fostering peace and stability across the state. He pledged to empower police officers to address challenges such as thuggery (known locally as Daba) and other criminal activities in parts of Kano metropolis.
Garba assured the public of his dedication to enhancing security measures, aiming to create a conducive environment where residents can thrive, businesses can prosper, and visitors feel welcomed.
Furthermore, the Commissioner also expressed gratitude to his predecessor, AIG Usaini Gumel, for his achievements and promised to uphold and expand upon his legacy while he called upon the public to collaborate with the police in their mission to maintain peace and stability in Kano State.
