Kano Approves Additional 2,600 Teacher Recruitment

The Kano State Government has formally recruited 4,315 teachers into the state civil service as part of efforts to revamp the education sector. The teachers, who previously served as interns, have now been absorbed as permanent and pensionable staff. At an induction ceremony in Kano, Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf outlined ongoing reforms in the sector, including the approval for the recruitment of an additional 2,616 teachers by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to improve teacher–pupil ratios across schools. The administration is also constructing new schools, rehabilitating dilapidated structures, distributing learning materials in all 44 local government areas, and promoting thousands of teachers as part of its broader agenda to strengthen education in the state.
