IGP Appoints AIG Nkechi Eze as First Director of New Police Medical Directorate
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Nkechi Eze, as the pioneer Director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced the appointment in a statement on Thursday, noting that it followed the recent upgrade of the Police Medical Section into a full-fledged Directorate to strengthen healthcare delivery for personnel nationwide.
Egbetokun congratulated AIG Eze, describing her as a seasoned clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator with over 27 years of service, and urged her to make the directorate a model of excellence in police healthcare management.
Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Eze holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Obafemi Awolowo University and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Benin.
Her career has spanned several police formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, Abuja, and Lagos, where she contributed significantly to the welfare and medical advancement of officers.
The IGP described the new directorate as a strategic step toward enhancing the welfare, productivity, and operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force.
