ICC Investigates Cricket Canada Over Alleged Match-Fixing Claims
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched an investigation into Cricket Canada following allegations of corruption linked to matches played at the 2026 T20 World Cup hosted in India and Sri Lanka.
The scrutiny includes Canada’s eight-wicket defeat to New Zealand in Chennai, a match now under review after allegations of possible irregularities were raised in a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) documentary.
According to reports, concerns have been raised over a specific over bowled by Canada captain Dilpreet Bajwa, which included a no-ball and a wide, resulting in 15 runs conceded. Canada posted 173 for 4, while New Zealand chased down 176 for 2 in 15.1 overs.
The ICC Anti-Corruption Unit said it is aware of the allegations and is examining governance-related issues within Cricket Canada, including claims of undue pressure on team selection involving former coach Khurram Chohan.
Cricket Canada has said it takes the allegations seriously and is cooperating with the investigation, stressing its commitment to addressing any issues responsibly.
The ICC says all matters are being handled under its standard integrity and governance procedures.
