House of Representatives Mourns Loss of Kaduna Lawmaker Ekene Abubakar Adams
House spokesman Akin Rotimi Jr has just announced the death of fellow House of Representatives member Ekene Abubakar Adams who passed away at the age of 39, on Tuesday.
The House of Representatives is saddened to announce the passing of a dear member of the 10th Assembly, Rep. Ekene Abubakar Adams (LP, Kaduna), who died early Tuesday, at the age of 39,” the spokesman of the House Akin Rotimi Jr said in a statement on Tuesday.
Ekene Adams was a first-time lawmaker representing Kaduna under the Labour Party (LP) and also chaired the House Committee on Sports.
“His dedication to the development of grassroots sports in Nigeria was unwavering, and his contributions to the House will be deeply missed,” Rotimi Jr said, sending condolences to the family, friends, and constituents of our “dear colleague, as well as the good people and Government of Kaduna State”.
He was described as a compassionate humanitarian, he was deeply committed to grassroots sports development in Nigeria, leaving a notable impact in the House.
“Rep. Akinremi was as much a grassroots politician as he was an astute statesman who leveraged his goodwill and network of relationships to attract positive impact to the people of his constituency,” the House spokesman said about him.
He built friendships by being intentional about reaching out and sending goodwill messages to all colleagues on special occasions, fostering camaraderie and unity within the House.”
Rotimi Jr extended condolences to Adams’ family, friends, constituents, and the people of Kaduna State, mourning the loss of a beloved colleague.
Adams’ demise marks the third House member’s passing this year, following Olaide Akinremi, known as Jagaban, who represented Ibadan North Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Akinremi, aged 51, passed away after a brief illness, remembered for his grassroots political acumen and statesmanship.
Earlier in the year, the House lost Isa Dogonyaro, an APC member representing Babura/Garki Federal Constituency in Jigawa State. Dogonyaro, admired for his jovial nature and intellectual contributions, forged strong bonds with fellow lawmakers nationwide, leaving behind wives and children.
“Hon. Isa Dogonyaro was a detribalised patriot who was very jovial as much as he was an intellectual,” the House of Reps said in describing the late lawmaker.
“He built strong bonds of friendship with Honourable Members from all parts of the country. He is survived by his wives and children.”
The House of Representatives mourns these losses, reflecting on their contributions and the friendships they fostered among colleagues.
