Governor Seyi Makinde Reaffirms Electoral Fairness as New Oyo Local Government Leaders Take Office
The newly elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the 33 local government areas in Oyo State have been officially sworn in.
The ceremony took place at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building, Secretariat, Ibadan, where Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Yerima, administered the oath of office and allegiance.
Addressing the chairmen and their deputies, Governor Seyi Makinde urged the new council leaders to embody the administration’s vision in their respective local government areas. He emphasized the importance of implementing people-oriented programs and policies to improve the lives of the residents.
Governor Makinde, who was represented by the deputy governor, Barrister Adebayo Lawal, affirmed the credibility and fairness of the electoral process that led to the emergence of the new chairmen.
He consequently called on them to uphold democratic values and the rule of law, ensuring their tenures are marked by significant grassroots development.
