FMC Jabi Denies Negligence Over Singer Ifunanya Nwagene’s Death
The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, has refuted social media claims that it failed to provide care for singer Ifunanya Nwagene, popularly known as Nanyah, who died after a snake bite.
The hospital said she developed severe neurotoxic complications. Doctors immediately provided resuscitation, intravenous fluids, intranasal oxygen, and polyvalent snake antivenom, and planned to transfer her to the ICU. However, her condition suddenly worsened, and she could not be revived.
FMC emphasized that her death was due to the complications of the snake bite, not negligence or lack of anti-snake venom. The hospital expressed condolences to her family and affirmed its commitment to transparency and quality care.
