First Commander of Operation Savannah Shield Deployed to Kwara

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has confirmed the deployment of the first commander for Operation Savannah Shield to Ilorin, following directives from President Bola Tinubu to tackle terrorist activity in the state.

The announcement came after Governor AbdulRazaq briefed the President in Abuja on the deadly Kaiama attack, which reportedly claimed over 160 lives. The governor expressed confidence in the military’s ability to stabilize affected areas, noting that operations have already begun.

President Tinubu had earlier ordered an army battalion to reclaim affected communities and ensure peace. The operation will target terrorist cells, bandits, and kidnappers operating across Kwara and other North-Central states.
