Firefighters Contain Blaze at Kwara State Polytechnic Quarters
The Kwara State Fire Service on Monday swiftly contained a fire outbreak at the Kwara State Polytechnic Quarters in Ilorin, preventing major damage to the residential buildings. The incident occurred at about 3:17 pm and affected the fascia boards of C-Three Blocks of two-bedroom flats before firefighters brought the situation under control.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire was caused by an undergrowth set ablaze by an unknown person, which later spread to the buildings. The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, CFS Alabi Muhammed, warned the public against indiscriminate bush burning, particularly around residential and institutional areas, noting that such fires can easily escalate into serious structural incidents during dry and windy conditions. He also urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities and fire outbreaks to enable a quick response.
