FIFA Confirms Dates, Venues for Intercontinental Cup 2025 Opener

FIFA has confirmed the fixtures and venues for the opening matches of the 2025 Intercontinental Cup, the annual global competition featuring club champions from all six confederations.
The tournament will begin with the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup Play-Off on Sunday, September 14, when CAF Champions League winners Pyramids FC face OFC Champions League winners Auckland City FC. The match will be played at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, Egypt, at 21:00 local time.
The winners will advance to face Al Ahli FC, winners of the AFC Champions League, on Tuesday, September 23, at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. The victor will lift the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup and secure progression to the next stage of the Intercontinental Cup.
That stage opens with the FIFA Derby of the Americas on December 10, featuring Concacaf Champions Cup winners Cruz Azul against the eventual 2025 CONMEBOL Libertadores champions, who will be confirmed in late November.
The winners of that tie will meet the African-Asian-Pacific Cup champions on December 13 in the FIFA Challenger Cup, with the victor booking a place in the final.
The Intercontinental Cup Final is scheduled for Wednesday, December 17, with Paris Saint-Germain, winners of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, awaiting the Challenger Cup winner.
FIFA said the host nation for matches three to five will be announced later.
