Federal High Court Adjourns Ganduje Removal Case till July 5th.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the hearing of a case seeking the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) until July 5th.
This adjournment was granted by Justice Inyang Ekwo to allow the plaintiffs to address a counter-affidavit filed by Ganduje challenging the validity of the suit.
Led by Saleh Zazzaga, the plaintiffs are contesting the legitimacy of Ganduje’s appointment as APC Chairman as they seek to restrain him from acting in that capacity and demand that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disregard all actions taken by the APC since Ganduje assumed office on August 3, 2023.
The plaintiffs contend that Abdullahi Ganduje’s appointment as APC Chairman violates the party’s constitution because he is from Kano State in the North West geopolitical zone, whereas the position requires someone from the North Central zone. They also assert that according to the APC constitution, only the national convention, not the National Executive Committee, holds the authority to appoint or remove national officers, including the national chairman
