Federal Government Vows To Complete Delayed Road Projects In Kwara
The Federal Government has pledged to expedite the completion of road projects in Kwara State that are behind schedule.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, made this commitment on Thursday during a Stakeholders Engagement on the alignment of the Niger (125 km) and Kwara (188 km) sections of the 313 km Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway.
Umahi praised the supportive roles of Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Niger Governor Mohammed Usman Bago, acknowledging their contributions to the progress of the road project.
He revealed that the federal government currently has 18 federal projects in Kwara State and emphasized that efforts will be intensified on those lagging behind their implementation timelines.
“We are going to engage with the Governor, the Commissioner for Works, the federal controller of works, and the ministry to review the projects and prioritize them,” Umahi stated.
He also highlighted that four projects are ongoing in Kwara under a tax credit arrangement with BUA Group, assuring that these projects will be completed soon for the benefit of commuters.
“Four projects are ongoing on tax credit with BUA in Kwara. They have assured me that these projects will be delivered as soon as possible. They are all government projects under President Tinubu. They are not social service projects from the company. We are the ones funding it under a different funding mechanism,” Umahi explained.
The Minister expressed his gratitude to Governors AbdulRazaq and Bago for hosting the engagement and for their hospitality during the discussions.
