FCT Police Parades Suspects for Alleged Support of Bandits in Kaduna
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has paraded two individuals suspected of aiding banditry activities in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The suspects were presented to the media by Benneth Igweh, the Commissioner of Police in Abuja on Tuesday.
One of the suspects, identified as Sunday Musa, alias Dan Gwari, operates as a Point of Sale (PoS) operator. According to CP Igweh, Musa allegedly has roles that include supplying sex workers to bandits in their camps and distributing money to their families.
His arrest came during a coordinated operation by the anti-kidnap unit of the FCT command in Kagarko.
“Sunday Musa is also the chief informant and logistics supplier to banditry groups, operating under the command of a fugitive known as Ardo,” CP Igweh disclosed.
He added that Musa confessed to facilitating the movement of nurses, drugs, and sex workers as per the bandits’ requests.
“In addition to these activities, he admitted to acting as a financial courier, having distributed over N20 million to the families of the bandits,” CP Igweh stated.
The police commissioner further revealed that the bandits Musa is associated with, led by Ardo, are armed with AK-47 rifles and number over 15 members.
In a related development, the FCT Police Command also apprehended a 41-year-old housewife, Ruqquaya Ibrahim, from Sabon-Wuse, Niger State.
She is accused of supplying foodstuff and other logistical support to bandits operating under the command of Shumau, who is currently evading arrest.
“Ruqquaya Ibrahim was intercepted at Gidan-Dogo forest while en route to deliver food supplies to the bandits. This led to the recovery of 14 rustled cows from Shumau’s hideout,” CP Igweh added.
Both suspects are currently in police custody pending further investigation and prosecution.
