#EndBadGovernance Protest: Tinubu’s Speech Diversionary, Failed to Address Issues — PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent national broadcast regarding the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests, stating that the speech confirms the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s insensitivity towards Nigerians and the precarious situation in the country.
In a statement by Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, the main opposition party expressed its disappointment, noting that although it took prodding from the PDP for President Tinubu to address the nation, the speech failed to offer any concrete measures to alleviate the excruciating hardship facing Nigerians.
The PDP highlighted that the speech did not respond to key demands from citizens, such as immediate measures to reduce the price of petroleum products, halt the fall of the Naira, and provide urgent intervention in the provision of food items to starving Nigerians.
The party further criticized the speech for focusing on self-praise, claims of imaginary achievements, and empty projections, rather than addressing the real issues facing the country.
The PDP argued that this approach only reinforces public apprehension that the APC administration is uncaring and indifferent to the suffering and pain of millions of Nigerians, particularly the youth.
The PDP also suggested that President Tinubu should cut the size of governance and expenditure on luxury items to free more resources for immediate intervention towards the wellbeing of Nigerians.
