Eagle Online Publisher Dotun Oladipo Dies At 56
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Premium Eagle Media Limited, Dotun Oladipo, has been reported dead at the age of 56. Premium Eagle Media Limited is the parent company of Eagle Online.
Oladipo’s death was announced on the Eagle Online website early Wednesday. The publication noted that Oladipo was in his usual state of health earlier in the day before suddenly taking ill at his office. It described his death as a shock to colleagues, friends and associates. According to The Cable, Oladipo drove himself to an unnamed hospital hours before his passing. His death was confirmed by the President, Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, Danlami Nmodu, who announced the veteran journalist’s death on the guild’s WhatsApp platform on Tuesday.
Oladipo was a former president of the guild. It has just been confirmed that Emeritus President, Mr Dotun Oladipo, died today. May his soul rest in peace. Amen. Also, the General Secretary, Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society, Nkanu Egbe, announced on Wednesday that Oladipo passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Lagos, at the age of 56. Mr Oladipo led our cooperative with dedication, alongside a distinguished journalism career spanning nearly three decades. His passing is a devastating loss not only to IMPCMS but to Nigerian journalism as a whole. He said funeral arrangements and other important matters would be communicated at a later time.
The Executive Committee will communicate further details regarding funeral arrangements, condolence visits and interim leadership matters as they become available. Members are urged to keep his family and our cooperative in their prayers during this difficult time. The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, described the deceased as a complete gentleman, accomplished digital journalist, and remarkable human being. He wrote that he was sending heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire community of digital journalists in Nigeria. May Dotun Oladipo rest in power. Oladipo was a former politics editor at PUNCH Newspapers. He also worked with Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Compass, and The Sun before founding Eagle Online. He obtained a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication from the Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta, in 1992.
