D’Tigress’ Coach Wakama Expresses Confidence in Team Ahead Of Olympics
Rena Wakama, the head coach of Nigeria’s senior women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, has expressed strong confidence in her team as they prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Since arriving in Germany for their pre-Olympics training camp, the team has been undergoing intense training sessions in Saarbrücken.
In anticipation of the global multi-sport event, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 10, coach Wakama assured that her players would remain vigilant and competitive.
“Things have been going well in the camp in the last few days, as we have had great practice sessions and the girls are in great spirits,” Wakama remarked in a chat with NBBF media. “The girls are responding well to training and getting better every day. And that’s what matters.”
Wakama expressed her excitement and optimism for the upcoming games. “I am confident that the girls will be able to display their talents when we get to Paris. I’m excited and looking forward to the games,” she added.
As part of their preparations, D’Tigress will test their skills in three friendly matches.
They are set to face Germany in Berlin on July 19, take on Serbia in Belgrade on July 21, and play against Japan in Lille, France on July 24.
These matches will provide the team with crucial opportunities to fine-tune their strategies and assess their readiness for the Olympics.
