Dangote Takes Over Construction of Ilorin Mosque’s ₦1.1bn Hostel Project

The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has assumed responsibility for the construction of a 250-bed hostel project initiated by the Ilorin Central Jumma’at Mosque in Kwara State.
The ultramodern facility, valued at ₦1.1 billion, is being developed at the University of Ilorin and is expected to generate rental income from students. Proceeds from the project will be dedicated to the upkeep and maintenance of the mosque.
According to Shehu AbdulGafar, secretary of the mosque’s Board of Trustees, who addressed journalists in Ilorin on Sunday, a Memorandum of Understanding has already been signed with the university, granting the mosque ownership and management of the hostel for 21 years before it reverts to the institution.
In addition to funding the project, Dangote has also committed to a monthly donation of ₦5 million to support the mosque’s operations until the hostel is completed, a contribution he began last month.
The initiative is expected to provide modern accommodation for students while ensuring the sustainability of the mosque’s activities.
