Citizens’ Support, Communication Strengthening Fight Against Insecurity says NOA Director General
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) says improved citizen support and effective communication are helping Nigeria make progress in the fight against insecurity.
Director-General Lanre Issa-Onilu stated this at the October 2025 Joint Security Press Briefing in Abuja, noting that the agency’s security communication campaign has reached about 32 million Nigerians in three months through radio, TV, and social media.
He said the initiative has boosted trust and cooperation between citizens and security agencies, leading to better intelligence and faster responses. Recent data show arrests of major suspects rose by 33 percent, rescues of abducted victims increased, and violent crime fatalities fell by 12 percent.
Anti-graft agencies also recorded significant recoveries, with the EFCC reclaiming ₦566.3 billion and over $400 million since 2023. Other agencies, including NDLEA, NAFDAC, and FRSC, reported major gains in enforcement, safety, and rehabilitation.
Issa-Onilu said these results reflect President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and urged Nigerians to stay alert and support security efforts nationwide.
