Burna Boy Reveals What He Could Have Been Without Music Career

August 22, 2025

Nigeria’s Grammy award-winning superstar, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has sparked reactions after revealing what his life might have looked like if he had not pursued a music career.

Speaking during an interaction with a fan, Burna Boy said he could have ended up as a suicide bomber, oil thief, fraudster, basketball player, or even a prostitute if music had not worked out for him.

The disclosure comes as the African Giant continues to break records globally. Burna Boy recently became the African artist with the most entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. His collaboration with American rapper Gunna, WGFT, debuted at number 96 on this week’s Hot 100, marking his seventh entry overall.

Significantly, Burna Boy is also the first African artist to debut a song on the Billboard Hot 100 in five consecutive years — 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
