Ayra Starr Tops Spotify’s List of Leading Female Afrobeat Artists

Spotify has named Nigerian singer Ayra Starr as the top female Afrobeat artist of the past 12 months, hailing her as the pop star of Afrobeat. She leads a list that includes Grammy winner Tems at number two, Libianca in third, Aya Nakamura in fourth, and Darkoo in fifth. Notably absent from the ranking was South African star Tyla, despite her sweeping wins in major Afrobeat award categories over the past year. Spotify also released its Top 5 Afrobeat Artists in Latin America, dominated entirely by Nigerians, with Rema, Ayra Starr, CKay, Burna Boy, and Wizkid making the list.
