Atiku Warns Federal Government Against Transforming North-East Into Theater of Terrorism
The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has strongly condemned the recent bomb attack in Borno State, urging the Federal Government to prevent the North-East from becoming a hub of terrorism.
Atiku voiced his concerns in a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday. The former Vice President criticized the current administration for its inadequate response in maintaining the security achievements made by the security forces.
He lamented the resurgence and spread of terrorist activities in the North-East, describing the development as “sad.”
Atiku stated, “The reported attack by suicide bombers at a wedding reception, funeral procession, and a hospital on Saturday stands condemned.”
“It is unfortunate that much of the pushback that had been achieved against the Boko Haram terror sect is being undone, primarily due to the government’s lacklustre posture in holding firmly on the frontline,” he added.
Atiku called on federal authorities to take their responsibilities seriously to ensure that the North-East does not revert to a theatre of terrorism and extreme violence.
He extended his condolences to the families of the victims of the attacks, saying, “It is my prayer that God grants a peaceful repose to the souls of the departed.”
Fatima Musa, the Secretary of Gwoza Local Government Area, also commented on the situation in the community, detailing the harrowing events that took place during the attacks.
