The continued closure of the Oke-Fia flyover in Osogbo has raised concerns over the Osun State Government’s infrastructure priorities. The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) criticized the project, questioning its necessity and impact.
In a statement on Monday, APM chairman Adewale Adebayo said traffic around Oke-Fia continues to flow smoothly despite the bridge remaining shut months after its completion. He argued that the flyover has not demonstrated clear value, with residents and commuters adjusting without major disruption.
The party also questioned the planning process behind the N10.7 billion project and whether proper studies were conducted before funds were allocated. Adebayo recalled raising concerns about the state’s large-scale infrastructure plans since 2023, arguing that the projects have had limited overall impact.
APM further alleged that a significant portion of completed projects under the subsequent N150 billion infrastructure programme is concentrated in Ede, the governor’s hometown, leaving other areas underserved. The party called for transparency, urging the state government to disclose full details of executed projects, contractors, and contract sums to allow residents to assess the benefits of public spending.
