APC Confirms Participation in Local Government Elections in Plateau State
The All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has officially resolved to participate in the forthcoming Local Government council election slated for October 2024.
This decision was announced in a press statement issued on Monday in Jos by the party’s Acting Publicity Secretary, Hon. Shittu Bamaiyi.
The resolution came after an emergency meeting in Jos, attended by members of the State Working and Executive Committees, elected former Local Government Council Chairmen, party Chairmen, and members of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
The meeting, presided over by State Chairman Hon. Rufus Bature, emphasized the party’s commitment to participating in the elections, contingent on the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) providing a level playing field and maintaining impartiality.
Bamaiyi highlighted that the party plans to adopt a democratic approach to conduct its primaries, aiming to avoid internal conflicts and resentment. The sale of forms is set to begin on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, with fees adjusted to reflect current economic challenges.
A report from New Telegraph notes that the APC’s participation in the elections is anticipated to enhance the democratic process and promote good governance at the grassroots level.
