Angola Clinches AfroBasket Title with Dominant Win Over Mali

Luanda, Angola – Angola reclaimed their AfroBasket crown on Sunday, defeating Mali 70–43 at the 12,700-capacity Kilamba Arena in Luanda, marking their first title since 2013. Despite not delivering their strongest performance of the tournament, Angola led throughout, pulling away in the third quarter to secure a comfortable victory, with fans celebrating in unison with a Mexican wave.
Childe Dudao led the Angolan scoring with 16 points, earning MVP chants in the fourth quarter, while Selton Miguel added 12 points. Mali’s Siriman Kanoute and Aliou Diarra scored 14 and 11 points, respectively. Mali’s 43 points represent the fewest scored in an AfroBasket game in the last 30 years. Angola completed the 2025 tournament with an unbeaten 6-0 record, while Mali, reaching the final for the first time, finished 4-3.
