Angel Unigwe’s Team Responds to Allegations from Kanayo O. Kanayo
Teen actress Angel Unigwe’s management team issued a firm rebuttal to accusations of professional misconduct leveled against her.
Kanayo had publicly accused Angel of breaching their contract and threatened to jeopardize her future career prospects.
In response, Chief Juliet Kings, representing Angel Unigwe, conveyed a strongly-worded letter dismissing Kanayo’s allegations and providing a detailed account of the circumstances surrounding their collaboration on a recent film production.
In the letter, Kings vehemently denounced Kanayo’s claims as “false, unfounded, and slanderous,” emphasizing the detrimental impact of his statements on Angel’s reputation and emotional well-being.
She criticized Kanayo’s actions as potentially constituting cyberbullying and underscored their distressing effect on both Angel and herself.
The statement clarified that Angel participated in the project under clear terms, including a scheduled wrap time of 9 pm daily.
Despite reservations about the ambitious filming schedule—attempting to shoot 57 scenes within three days—Angel proceeded based on assurances from Kanayo and the director, Ndifreke Matthew.
“On completion of the shoot, we departed the location without objection from the director or production manager Mr. Cosmos Nwaihe, having fulfilled our obligations,” Kings stated, highlighting that Angel had even worked an additional 45 to 50 minutes beyond the agreed-upon hours.
Moreover, Kings contextualized the incident within broader issues of gender-based discrimination in the entertainment industry.
She criticized the derogatory remarks allegedly directed at Angel, emphasizing the importance of upholding professionalism and mutual respect.
“This incident underscores a deeper issue of gender-based discrimination, where we have faced derogatory and defamatory remarks simply for upholding the terms of a mutually agreed contract,” Kings asserted.
