Adeleke Wins Osun Governorship Election, Secures Second Term

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election after polling 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes. The State Returning Officer, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, announced the result at about 7:24 a.m. on Sunday and returned Adeleke elected for another term. Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11, with the African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, finishing third. Speaking at a press conference on Sunday shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared him winner, Adeleke thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting what he said was a free and fair election in Osun State and endorsed the President for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
