ADC Accuses APC of Pressuring Opposition Governors, Undermining Multiparty Democracy

October 15, 2026

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council has accused the All Progressives Congress of undermining Nigeria’s multiparty democracy following the inauguration of its presidential campaign council in Abuja. The ADC-PCC Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, alleged that the ruling party was pressuring opposition governors to join the APC or serve on its campaign council without formally defecting from their parties.

He also accused the government of using state institutions, security agencies and the judiciary to weaken opposition parties and concentrate political power, calling the development political abduction. The ADC campaign council urged Nigerians, civil society groups and the international community to resist anti-democratic agenda. Ologbondiyan accused the ruling political establishment of prioritising its hold on power over the welfare of citizens facing economic hardship and insecurity.
