Kwara Trains Secondary School Teachers on Artificial Intelligence

The Kwara State Government has launched a one-day training programme on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching for selected public senior secondary school teachers across the state.
The programme, themed “Empowering the 21st Century Educator,” took place at the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development Resource Centre in Tanke, Ilorin.
The initiative marks a new phase in the state’s education reform agenda, aimed at equipping teachers with digital skills to enhance classroom delivery and prepare students for the demands of a rapidly evolving technological world.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, described the training as a major milestone in Kwara’s education transformation, while senior ministry officials highlighted the government’s sustained investments in innovation and capacity building.
The workshop featured sessions on the integration of AI into teaching methods, with facilitators urging participants to adopt new strategies that make classrooms more interactive and inclusive. Teachers in attendance expressed appreciation for the opportunity and called for the training to be extended to more educators across the state.
The event was attended by top officials of the ministry, including the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Alhaji Abduraheem Abiodun Rufai, and the Director of Human Capital Development, Mrs. Oludare Olawumi Victoria.
