FG to Revoke DisCo Licences Over Poor Performance — Adelabu

Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has warned that electricity distribution companies (DisCos) failing to meet performance standards will not have their licences renewed when they expire in 2028. Speaking at the 2025 Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja, Adelabu described the DisCos as major bottlenecks in achieving stable electricity supply and announced that the Federal Government will implement major reforms before any renewal. He added that President Bola Tinubu has approved a ₦4 trillion bond to clear verified debts owed to power generation companies and gas suppliers, alongside a targeted subsidy plan to protect vulnerable households.
