Unilorin Receives Over One Billion Naira in Intervention Funds from TETFund
Ilorin, Nigeria — The University of Ilorin has received a substantial intervention fund of ₦1,656,944,930.00 from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for the year 2024. This announcement was made by Vice Chancellor Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN) during the university’s 39th press briefing.
Professor Egbewole highlighted that the fund, which covers 11 key areas, demonstrates the university’s continued support from TETFund. In addition, the university has secured ₦250 million for zonal interventions aimed at executing various projects.
The Vice Chancellor detailed the areas where the funds will be deployed, including physical infrastructure upgrades, academic staff training, and ICT support, among others. He emphasized the university’s broader mission to not only impart knowledge but also to cultivate future leaders who will positively influence society.
Reflecting on the recent academic achievements, Professor Egbewole revealed that a total of 12,042 students graduated for the 2022/2023 academic session. The breakdown includes 256 first-class graduates, 842 second-class upper division, 6,178 second-class lower division, 1,299 third-class, and 62 pass degrees.
Additionally, he noted specific programs with notable graduations: 124 MB.B.S graduates, 64 nursing graduates, 35 optometry graduates, 30 veterinary medicine graduates, and 18 graduates with distinction in pharmacy, as well as 1 distinction and 32 pass in physiotherapy.
Professor Egbewole’s remarks underscore the university’s commitment to enhancing its academic environment and its mission of excellence in education as it prepares students to take on leadership roles in the future.
