UNICAL Unveils 25-Year Development Plan to Strengthen Workforce and Curriculum

The University of Calabar has developed a 25-year plan to enhance its workforce and curriculum, as part of efforts to address financial challenges and expand access to education. Vice Chancellor Prof. Florence Obi, speaking ahead of the university’s 50th anniversary and 37th convocation, emphasized the need for increased student fees to sustain operations. To generate more revenue, the institution is expanding its Open and Distance Learning Programme and introducing a top-up degree for HND holders and third-class graduates. Obi also highlighted advancements such as an automated result portal and called on the media to promote the new initiatives.
