UAE President to Visit Nigeria in 2025 – Nigerian Presidency Confirms

President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has accepted the invitation of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to visit Nigeria later this year.
This development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. According to the statement, President Tinubu extended the invitation during bilateral talks held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025.
President Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday as a guest of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to participate in the forum, which fosters global cooperation on sustainable development and addresses challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, and energy crises.
The statement further noted that Tinubu delivered Nigeria’s stance on climate challenges during the event and congratulated the UAE leader for hosting a successful gathering.
During their meeting, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for attending the summit and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation with Nigeria. Both leaders explored strategies to attract investment into Nigeria, with President Tinubu highlighting his administration’s economic reforms, which he said had stabilized and expanded the economy.
The Nigerian leader emphasized that these reforms had boosted investor confidence, prompting international oil companies and other foreign investors to commit to billion-dollar investments in Nigeria.
President Tinubu also expressed appreciation for the warm reception he and his delegation received from the UAE authorities since their arrival.
The Nigerian delegation to the meeting included Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
The UAE President was accompanied by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Other UAE officials present were Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; and Salem Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Nigeria.
