Two Borno State University Students Killed in Trailer, Bus Collision
Two students of Borno State University tragically lost their lives on Wednesday following a road accident involving a university bus and a trailer.
The incident occurred when the bus, which was carrying 30 students, was struck by the trailer. According to eyewitnesses, the collision resulted in three students sustaining critical injuries, while 15 others were left with various degrees of injury. Approximately ten students managed to escape without harm.
University spokesperson Umar Garkuwa confirmed the details of the accident, adding that the injured students were promptly taken to Umaru Shehu Hospital and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
Garkuwa also stated that the university’s vice chancellor and the dean of student affairs were on their way to the hospitals to oversee the care of the injured students.
The tragic incident occurred less than a month after another fatal road accident claimed the lives of ten people in Yanfari village, Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State. The latest crash has once again raised concerns about road safety and the need for more stringent measures to prevent such accidents.
