Transmission Company of Nigeria Announces Five-Day Blackout for Substation Upgrade in Bauchi

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage across several North-East states from June 10 to 14, 2025, due to ongoing construction at the Bauchi 330kV substation. The outage will allow contractors to install Turn-In and Turn-Out transmission towers and carry out work on the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 132kV line, which will be temporarily shut down. As a result, areas like Damaturu, Molai, Yola, and Jalingo will experience total blackout, while Gombe and Biu will receive limited power from Dadin Kowa Hydropower Plant, and Baga Road will be powered by MEPP. This is part of broader efforts to upgrade the region’s power infrastructure.
