January 31, 2025

Four soldiers attached to the Myoung Barracks in the Morocco area of Shomolu, Lagos, are feared dead, with others injured after a suspected drunk driver rammed into them during their early morning physical training on Friday.

The incident, which has caused panic within the military community, involved a Toyota vehicle occupied by three young men believed to be internet fraudsters, commonly known as ‘Yahoo Boys.’ One of the men fled immediately after the crash, while the remaining two were apprehended, beaten, and their vehicle vandalized. A soldier who was at the back of the group described the scene as chaotic, with blood everywhere.

As of the time of the report, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Olabisi Ayeni, and the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, had yet to confirm the details of the incident.
