Soulja Boy Defends Performance at Trump’s Inaugural Ball: “I Was Paid”

American rapper Soulja Boy has addressed criticism over his decision to perform at one of Donald Trump’s inauguration balls, explaining that his appearance was financially motivated.
The rapper, along with artists Nelly and Snoop Dogg, has faced backlash from fans who accused them of betraying their trust by participating in the event celebrating Trump’s presidency.
Responding to the criticism during an Instagram Live session, Soulja Boy was unapologetic, emphasizing that he was paid for his performance.
“They paid me a bag,” he said. “Obama ain’t never put no money in my fcking pockets. Kamala [Harris] ain’t never put no money in my fcking pockets. Trump put money in my pockets.”
While Soulja Boy attributed his decision to financial gains, fellow artist Nelly framed his involvement differently, describing his performance as an act of honor rather than monetary incentive.
Snoop Dogg, however, has not yet responded to the backlash.
The controversy continues to spark debate among fans and critics, highlighting the often complex intersection of politics and entertainment
