Sokoto State Launches Major Polio Vaccination Drive Targeting Over One Million Children
The Sokoto State Government has launched a four-day intensive polio vaccination campaign aiming to immunize over one million children under five, targeting the circulating variant poliovirus type 2 as part of Nigeria’s strategy to end polio transmission by December 2025 as the government, supported by UNICEF and WHO, has deployed independent supervisors to ensure transparency and address challenges, reaffirming its commitment to protecting every eligible child and eradicating polio.
